Terms of service

These terms cover your use of bigcartenergy.com and the free patches and tools Big Cart Energy publishes. By using the site, you agree to them. Questions go to hello@bigcartenergy.com.

The short version

  • The site and the free patches and tools come as is, with no warranty.
  • Test every patch on staging before production, and keep a backup.
  • Each package's license is in its repository, and that license governs it.
  • Sending us a form doesn't hire us. Paid work runs under a separate written agreement.

Using the site

Our posts and guides are general technical information, not advice for your specific store. Versions, commands and configuration change, so check them against your own setup and Adobe's documentation before you act on them.

Don't use the site or its forms to send spam, malware or anything unlawful, and don't try to break, overload or probe the site or its forms.

Free patches and tools

Our free patches and tools live in public repositories and install with Composer. Each one has its own license, stated in its repository, and that license governs how you can use, change and share it. Patches that backport Magento Open Source code may carry the same open-source license as the code they patch.

Each patch page lists the exact Magento versions we tested it on. We make no claim about any version that isn't listed.

Patches change code in your store. Before you install one:

  • test it on a staging copy of your store,
  • take a backup you have restored at least once,
  • read the diff, which is public in the repository.

You're responsible for what you install and run on your own systems. A patch closes the specific vulnerability it names. It doesn't make a store secure on its own.

No warranty

The site, the free patches and the free tools are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Big Cart Energy is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or orders, arising from your use of the site or the free patches and tools.

Sending a form, reading a post or installing a patch doesn't create a client relationship. Paid work, including emergency help, runs under a separate written agreement, and that agreement's terms apply to it.

Our content and brand

The writing, design, logos and brand on this site belong to Big Cart Energy. Code snippets in our posts are there to be used, so copy them into your own projects. Please ask before you republish our posts or use our brand.

Trademarks

Magento and Adobe Commerce are trademarks of Adobe. Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, NetSuite and other product names belong to their owners. Big Cart Energy is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

We link to vendor documentation, security advisories and other sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date on this page shows the current version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.
