Privacy policy

This policy covers bigcartenergy.com, run by Big Cart Energy. Questions about it go to hello@bigcartenergy.com.

The short version

We collect what you type into our forms, plus basic analytics.
We use it to reply to you, to send patch alerts if you ask for them, and to see which pages help.
We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.
Email us and we'll delete it.

What we collect

Talk Shop and Emergency forms. Your name, work email, company, platform and message. The Talk Shop form also has an optional box to get patch alerts at the same email address.

Patch alert signups. Your email address, from a signup box on the site or the checkbox on the Talk Shop form.

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records the pages you visit, roughly where you're visiting from, your browser and device type, how you found us, and which links, buttons and forms you use on those pages. Never what you type.

Technical data. Our host and our bot check process your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and keep spam out.

We don't ask for payment details, and we don't want passwords or API keys in the forms. If we need access to your store, we set it up with you separately.

Why we use it

To reply to your message and do the work you ask about.
To send patch alerts, if you opted in.
To understand which pages are useful, so we can improve the site.
To keep the site and its forms safe from bots and abuse.

Who processes it for us

Resend delivers form messages to our inbox and sends patch alerts. Resend's privacy policy
Google Workspace hosts our business email, where form messages arrive and replies go out. Google's privacy policy
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a form was sent by a person. Cloudflare says it processes signals such as your IP address and browser details to detect bots, not to identify, profile or target anyone. Turnstile privacy addendum

Vercel hosts the site and keeps short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses. Vercel's privacy notice

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Form messages: while we're talking or working together, then for up to two years after our last contact, so we have the history if you come back. Ask and we'll delete them sooner.
Patch alert emails: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so you aren't added back by mistake.
Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 14 months, then deletes it.
Request logs: kept by Vercel for a short period, for security and debugging.

Cookies

The only cookies we set are Google Analytics cookies: _ga and one whose name starts with _ga_. They tell us whether a browser has visited before, and they don't identify you by name. You can block or delete them in your browser settings and the site works the same. Cloudflare's Turnstile addendum, linked above, covers what Turnstile uses to run its check.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from patch alerts with the link in any alert.
Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you: email hello@bigcartenergy.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
Block analytics cookies in your browser, or use an extension that blocks Google Analytics.

Depending on where you live, for example the EU, the UK or California, local law may give you more rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or complaining to a regulator. Email us and we'll help.
